The constraints of quiet widowhood have become too much for Lady Caroline Pearson to bear—especially now that her brother-in law has idiotically, and illegally, gambled away her house. Boldly, she confronts the new owner in person. But not only does the dashing rogue, James Ferrington, refuse to return Caroline's deed, he tries to take scandalous advantage of her as well. Sheepish and repentant, James arrives on Caroline's doorstep to make amends— unaware that the young widow and her eccentric aunt are intent on retaliation. James merely meant to seduce a bewitching minx and have done with it—and, suddenly, he's a kidnapped prisoner in Caroline's cellar. But most shocking of all, James realizes that he has no desire whatsoever to be free—for the audacious Caroline has inflamed his senses, destroyed his reason . . . and completely captured his heart..

As fallen human beings we are quick to deviate from the true gospel, for, as Pastor Josh Moody writes, “we tend toward human gospels.” Believers must constantly battle to maintain the purity and simplicity of the gospel. Paul was acutely aware of this as he wrote his letter to the Galatians. He was writing to an established church—experienced believers who had started to slip in their gospel witness. Moody finds in Galatians particular relevance and parallels to many churches today. Stemming from a series of sermons delivered to his church, he examines thirty-one reasons Paul gives for this gospel. Moody writes this book with a pastor’s heart, addressing important topics such as “The Gospel Not Moralism” and “The Use of Gospel Freedom.” Paul’s message is foundational to the Christian faith, and thoughtful readers will benefit from Moody’s exposition..

Critical Incident: A gripping and heart-breaking page-turner - TL Dyer Preview:

Good and bad. Right and wrong. Decent and indecent. The line that separates them is thinner than you think. PC Steve Fuller has served as an officer for over twenty years. There’s nothing he hasn’t seen, nothing he can’t deal with. He might be closing in on forty but he’s still in good shape, his head on straight, his instincts sharp. Or so he thinks. Until Anna Johnson. Hours before washing her dried blood from his body, Steve holds the young woman’s hand in the wreckage of the car, comforting her as best as one stranger to another can in the most critical moment of her life. He’s the last person she’ll see. She’s another tragic victim of the road. Another fatality. At the end of another shift. Except she won’t go away. Pale blue eyes and porcelain skin framed by ebony hair haunt his sleep at night and his conscience during the day. Compelled to find out more about what, or who, caused Anna to lose control of the car that night, Steve goes looking for answers. But they’re not easy to find. And the more he tries to do right, the more everyone tells him he’s wrong, until – piece by piece – he can’t be entirely sure of the difference any more. As the autopilot driving his life falters – colleagues questioning his decisions, physical sensations he can’t control, thoughts that leave him uneasy – the truth about Anna Johnson begins to unravel. And it’s nothing like he expects. Critical Incident is a gripping and heart-breaking page-turner, and the first book in the Code Zero police drama series This book was previously published under the title No Further Action "A wonderfully touching and powerful story." "A must read for anyone who likes deep, sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreakingly sad, explorations of the human condition." "Had me engaged from the start".

Perhaps no one has done more in the last 30 years to advance thinking in the metaphysics of modality than has Alvin Plantinga. Collected here are some of his most important essays on this influential subject. Dating back from the late 1960's to the present, they chronicle the development of Plantinga's thoughts about some of the most fundamental issues in metaphysics: what is the nature of abstract objects like possible worlds, properties, propositions, and such phenomena? Are there possible but non-actual objects? Can objects that do not exist exemplify properties? Plantinga gives thorough and penetrating answers to all of these questions and many others. This volume contains some of the best work in metaphysics from the past 30 years, and will remain a source of critical contention and keen interest among philosophers of metaphysics and philosophical logic for years to come..

Ibn Khallikan's Biographical Dictionary, or Deaths of Eminent Men and History of the Sons of the Epoch, was the noted Arabic scholar Ibn Khallikan's most well-known and respected work. No Other Duke But You - Valerie Bowman Preview:

Bestselling author Valerie Bowman sets the stage in Regency England for her Playful Brides series, where couples' misadventures on the way to the altar are witty, romantic romps based on some of the world's most beloved plays. The eleventh book in the series, No Other Duke But You, is inspired by William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. SINGLE LADY SEEKS DUKE Lady Delilah Montebank has her marital sights set on the Duke of Branville. There’s just one problem: he barely knows she exists. But no matter, she’s got a plan to win him over with her charm, her wit—and perhaps the love potion she has in her possession wouldn’t hurt her cause... Lord Thomas Hobbs, Duke of Huntley, thinks his best friend Delilah’s quest to become a duchess is ridiculous. He’s always said he’d rather give up all the brandy in London than commit to one person for life. Besides, he knows that Delilah’s love potion can’t possibly win over Branville...since she accidentally gave it to him instead. But perhaps this is the excuse he needs to show her he’s always loved her... Delilah can’t believe she gave the potion to the wrong duke. Then again, Delilah could do a lot worse than win the hand of her handsome best friend. Could it be that the right duke has been before her eyes all along? The Playful Brides novels are: “Wholly satisfying.”—USA Today “Smart and sensual.”—RT Book Reviews “Delicious.” —Kirkus Reviews.
